It was late.. more like in the a.m. Lately, Jean preferred this. The looks from the students she had been getting were unsettling. She wasn't sure how to deal with them because she'd been trying so hard to not use her telepathy. And save that one time with Scott, she had not.

Nighttime was easy. Sure there were some crazy dreams going on in the students' heads, but Jean never invaded those when she did use her telepathy. So, it was a good time for her to be awake.

She perused the paper, debating a crossword when the teapot whistled to grab her attention. For now she was at peace, but she felt a tad uneasy.

Scott just hadn't been able to sleep much these days. It started with Jean's death, and he'd been getting better. But now that she was back, his insominia seemed to have started again. He'd been tossing and turning and all night and finally just gave up, and climbed out of bed.

He put on a t-shirt just in case any of the students might be up. They didn't need to see their teacher in his pajama pants. He headed downstairs, bare feet shuffling along the floor as he entered the kitchen, eyes blinking behind his glasses as his eyes adjusted to the light. Once they focused he spotted Jean. "Can't sleep either, hun?" He asked.

Jean looked over at him and had a suck in a slight gasp. This had been her favorite look of Scott's, the casual, messy hair, loose pants. All that was missing was no shirt, but it was probably best that one was on.

"Scott." She said. "No... I can't. I'm making tea."

She used her telepathy to grab an extra mug out of the cupboard. "Can I tempt you?"

She realized that she was quite happy he was here.

Scott heard the slight gasp, but didn't acknowledge it. His look was just the "sleep Scott" look, but he thought it would be better to wear the shirt unless he was upstairs.

"Sure," he answered, and took a seat across from her. "So, how are you doing?" He asked. "Getting settled back in and everything?"

Jean ran her hand through her dyed brown hair and sighed. "I'm trying. It's not horribly easy, but I knew that would happen."

The cup floated in front of Scott and Jean poured the tea herself. Oddly, she wanted to not use her powers for that one.

"Why are you up, Scott? You sleep like a rock." She let a bit of familiarity sink in. He was the heavier sleeper of the two.

Scott missed her red locks. With his optic beams being what they were, browns just took on a shade of almost black, and it wasn't sure it suited her. But, he didn't mention that out loud. "You'll get settled," he nodded, taking a sip of his tea. "Just give it time."

He took another sip and quiet before he answered her question. "It seems to be a pattern for me lately," he replied. "After you...I didn't sleep much, but as time worn on things got better. But, now that you're here again, I don't know. I just have a lot of my mind I guess."

Jean sighed. "It's odd, I could have just read your mind to find all that out... but I won't and can't right now. It's weird finding out about you this way." She admitted.

"I'm sorry my presence is bringing such unrest to you, Scott."

Scott sipped his tea and set his mug back on the counter. "It's alright," he answered. "I understand. You should take things as slow as you need to until you feel better." He ment that too.

"It's not you," he told her, doing his best assure her that that was true. "It's me. I can't help it, but you know me. I worry too much."

"If it helps." Jean sighed, taking her eyes away from Scott. "I worry too." She had to stop looking at him like this, It was feeling all too familiar. A brown locke flopped over her eyes to help convince her that is was not a year ago. It was fading a bit as she'd not bothered to touch up since she got here.

"I miss not hearing others' thoughts, it's like a sense is.. missing."

And familiar was wrong? Scott liked the familiar, but things defenitly weren't familiar right now.

"Have you tried using your telepathy?" He asked. "Even a little bit?"

"Only that once with you, Scott." Jean spoke, sighing a little, recalling the doosey of a headache she had afterwards. "I don't think I could handle being in anyone else's head." She cupped the mug and let it just hover under her nose, taking in the aroma of hibiscus.

"I couldn't bear to let myself hurt anyone..." Especially Scott. Matter of fact, the biggest reason she had the headache is that she was so busy being careful, it strained her more than ever.

She rubbed her temple for a moment in memories that doesn't exactly have a grip on.
